This project
From the outset, this project was about creating a true focal point within a beautiful open-plan kitchen and living space. My brief was to design a media wall that felt fully integrated with the existing kitchen, rather than appearing as an afterthought. To achieve this, I specified the main cabinetry in a cashmere finish to perfectly complement the current kitchen units, ensuring visual continuity across the open-plan layout.
The media wall will house a contemporary electric fire beneath the TV, creating warmth and ambience without the need for additional flueing—ideal for a modern family environment. Flanking shelves with integrated LED lighting will provide space for styling with books, ceramics and family photographs, adding personality while keeping the overall look clean and balanced.
A key part of the design was incorporating generous drawer storage beneath the worktop. During our discussions, it became clear that toy storage for visiting grandchildren had been an ongoing challenge. By integrating deep, soft-close drawers into the base units, we’ve created a practical and discreet solution that keeps the space tidy without compromising on aesthetics.
To tie the entire scheme together, the media wall worktop has been selected to complement the existing oak flooring, introducing warmth and texture while linking the new installation seamlessly to the rest of the room. The result is a cohesive, functional and inviting feature that enhances both the kitchen and living areas.
