Make a splash in the kitchen using this year’s hottest colour trends
Colour plays an important role within the home. Whether it is the colour of your walls, your kitchen units or accessories. They all play their part in creating the right atmosphere.
This year there is a trend for neutral, warm textures and earthy inspired tones, including dark and olive greens and terracotta’s.
Here, Bell kitchen designer, Kym Davidson, explains how you can incorporate the latest colour trend into your kitchen.
Leading the way in kitchen design
The kitchen isn’t just about preparing food or simply having a functional space. Many people are now looking for a kitchen that is a warm and comfortable area; somewhere that they can make it their own.
When it comes to kitchen designs, we have seen an increase in the request for blended kitchens. By this I mean a kitchen that mixes modern aspects with traditional elements.
For example, while a kitchen may look traditional in relation to the doors and handles used, many are looking to incorporate modern aspects, such as installing appliances that can be controlled remotely.
Colour into your kitchen
Right now, there is such a drive for sustainability that earthy tones and knowing where products come from, is here to stay.
And it’s very easy to incorporate these accents of colour into your kitchen to help breathe new life into the space. A good starting point is to focus on a feature wall. Consider painting the wall behind your sink or oven to create a striking focal point. Or why not use tiles to create added texture. To help tie it all together, add smaller colour accents in your chosen accessories, such as your utensils, that reflect the hues of the feature wall to help create a cohesive look.
Choosing worktops that play into your colour theme is also a great way to amplify your chosen colourway. Tap into the trend for earthy tones with olive green units by opting for green-veined worktops.
Installing artwork is another perfect way to add this season’s colour palette to your kitchen. In fact, a visit to The Rose Gallery at Bell will provide you with ample inspiration.
But it’s also the little touches that can make a big difference too. Optimise colour within your kitchen via the wall tiles, feature splashbacks or even the handles or plates and crockery you choose.
